Bathroom Reading

Yep.  I admit it.  I am a bathroom reader at home.  Sometimes I do sudoku or a word search, but I usually read a page or two in the bathroom.  The book has to either be short - novella length ideally - or a book with short chapters that can easily be read either in one or two bathroom breaks.  People say that the bathroom is the world's most private library and I suppose that is true on some level.  Unless there is a serious emergency, and here I am reminded of a time in Germany I think it was when I was small and Dad was in the bathroom and I had to throw up (didn't make it but at least I tried), people tend to leave you alone when you are in the bathroom.  This was a great boon when I was a kid.  My parents believed in chores and yard-work so when I wanted a few minutes to myself, I'd hit the bathroom, read a page or two, and then back in the fray of family life.  I read the Howards End is on the Landing book that I reviewed a few entries ago in the bathroom and actually found that book perfect for it because it was nice little bite-sized chunks and since the book gave me a lot to think about, it was good to break up the reading.  Right now I am reading a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novella Love and Other Demons.  There will be a rumination when I finish it!  I think part of the bathroom reading thing also just comes from the fact that I am a voracious reader, which isn't a bad thing!
