Book Ruminations: The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen was a film that I adored in my teenaged years.  It was such a delightful story and it took me away from the world that I lived in.  It was about an old man who, through adventure, became younger and knew extraordinary people.  Terry Gilliam and Charles McKeown wrote the book and I was eager to read it.  Then I started reading it.  It's a direct lift from the film or perhaps the other way around.  I am not entirely sure.  It is fair to say that more often than not, when we see a film we really like or even love, the book is going to have more to the story and that the story is going to be different.  I was disappointed to see that the book and movie in this case are basically the same.  The book was fun, but having seen the film first, the story will always belong to the film, for me at least.
