Job Hunting

Everyone in my program is on the job hunt right now and of course, with job hunting comes the emotional ups and downs.  A lot of people have asked me how I manage to keep being so optimistic.  Am I worried?  Absolutely!  Who wouldn't be but I am trying to make the hunt fun for myself.  I've kind of gamified my job hunting.  Every 5 jobs I apply to represents a level up.  Every 10 is a gold star.  If I have a particularly good week with sending out applications, I get a reward - I settle in with a fun book and have a nice good read.  That said, I don't penalize myself for weeks where I've only applied to 2 or 3 jobs.  Everyone goes up and down when looking for a job. That's normal and it just means you try a little harder the following week.  So, for my friends who are also job hunting, it's ok!  I'm right there with you!  Try to make it a little fun for yourself.  Though I must say, it helps to break up the job hunting with other things.  My current project is to weed my personal library in preparation for moving wherever I'm going when I get that awesome job.
