At the Library

Grabbed my camera on the way out the door today so I could take some pictures.  I work at the National University of Singapore Central Library which is the biggest and is in the middle of the campus.  The CLB shares space with the Chinese Library as well.  Here is a picture of the building:

The portion of the building that faces away from the street opens out onto a well manicured vista of jungle as seen here:

...and here is a picture of me mugging for the camera in front of the greenery.

Me, mugging for the camera

In other news, had Korean food for lunch, got to experience the once a year fire drill at the library, and stopped at BreadTalk which is a bakery in the Clementi mall.  Yummy!  Tomorrow, meeting with information literacy people to talk about whatever my project is going to be.  Excited!  I can't wait to start working on it.

Also, as an aside, some of the people I had lunch with told me that it's hotter than normal right now (lucky me).  It seems to be the worst in the mornings.  By the time I get to work, I'm drenched in sweat (literally, it runs down my face, into my eyes, my hair is soaked, and my clothes are a second skin) but the afternoons seem to be a little better.  Of course, I spent breaktime this afternoon reading up a bit on Bangkok and the guidebook was very adamant in stating that if I want to go to any temples (I do) then you need to wear pants and a long sleeved shirt (groan).  I'm going to be thoroughly roasted by the time I am done seeing temples.  Ah well.  I foresee taxis and a small avalanche of water bottles in my future.
