Going to Uganda!

Way back at the beginning of the school year, I determined very quickly that I really wanted to do an international internship.  I started looking on my own, which led to Singapore, but I also attended information sessions on international internships that were offered by professors.  One such talk was about working in the Ugandan National Archives.  Since I had already committed to going to Singapore, I thought of Uganda as a if I get funding, I will go kind of deal.  I applied for funding for both Uganda and Singapore at every available place that I could.

Today, I got notification that I will be receiving funding!  It's not enough to cover the trip, but it will cover the portion of the plane ticket that will get me there.  Since I am doing Singapore first, I will now have to purchase a Round The World ticket!  Over the span of a Summer, I will be circumnavigating the planet!  How cool is that?!

In Uganda, I will be working at the National Archives helping to catalog it.  Uganda is not the safest place in the world, but in the area that I will be in (the South), it's relatively stable.  Uganda is also a malarial zone so hello malaria pills.

I'm still a bit shell shocked but this is really happening!  This is going to be an amazing Summer!
